There are two types of teeth whitening gels, carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide, each having the same active ingredient, "hydrogen peroxide". So its safe to say that one is more of a pure form than the other, ZOOM Whitening and Lazer Bright use pure forms of hydrogen peroxide gels which Lazer Bright is a non-dental teeth whitening company that uses strong gels with an intense LED light and we have seen close to 12 shades on numerous before and after pics; thus probably the reason for their perfect reviews... They have a quality process and product..
Hydrogen peroxide gels take less time to react than carbamide peroxide gels. Its about a 3 to 1 ratio with strength between the two, carbamide peroxide is roughly 3 times weaker than pure hydrogen peroxide. 12% Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) Gel is equivalent to 36% Carbamide Peroxide (CP) Gel, but the CP takes roughly 5 minutes longer to start reacting under a light accelerator than the HP. When we inquired 30 random dentists, we discovered that most of them used strengths under 16%, only 3 that used 30% + HP (requiring a gingival barrier), and some dentists that used a weaker CP at 18% (equivalent to 6% HP). So most of the dentists are using the same strength gels as lots of your salons / spa, weaker in some instances. Some teeth whitening spas (non-dental) use 16% HP (equivalent to 48% CP), which do not require a gingival barrier. The 16% strength combined with a quality teeth whitening light will yield the greatest results for your money.
